Parastas commemorations and grave blessings this weekend

Saturday, June 4, 2022

Glory to Jesus Christ!

I would like to remind everyone who may be interested that I will be celebrating a Parastas memorial service at Pinecrest cemetery tomorrow at 2pm and then blessing the graves of parishioners buried in that cemetery.  The parastas will be celebrated next to the Romanow and Yuzyk graves. You can get to that spot by driving left around the main administration building and chapel and up the hill a little bit.  These graves are located to the left of the road.

Please note that you do not need to have relatives buried at Pinecrest or Notre Dame cemeteries for them to be commemorated at the Parastases this weekend.  They could be buried anywhere and we will still pray for them.  Please also note that it’s good to also submit names of deceased friends, too, not just relatives.  It would especially be a good thing to do so if there is no one else who would make sure that they get remembered.

If anyone would like to submit the names of their relatives so we could pray for them, but have not done so yet, please do so by 11am tomorrow, Saturday, June 4, so I have time to enter them onto my list of names to commemorate at Pinecrest cemetery.  I will also celebrate a parastas at Notre Dame cemetery at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and bless the graves there.  Please note that few people have submitted names to be commemorated at Notre Dame.  One reason is that it’s an older cemetery & there are fewer survivors to have their ancestors commemorated, but let us hope that it is not also because of forgetfulness to have them prayed for.  For names to be commemorated at Notre Dame, the deadline for submitting names is 9pm tomorrow evening.
