Parish Lenten Retreat

The mission will take place Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 13.

The preacher will be Fr. Tom Hrywna.  The theme will be repentance/metanoia and how  the disciplines of confession, tithing & almsgiving, prayer & fasting contribute  to our life as Christians.

Please note that all the events listed below will include opportunities for confession.

The schedule is as follows:

Friday, March 11,  6pm:    Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts.  Includes homily on confession.

Saturday, March 12,  2pm:   Homily on Tithing & Almsgiving

Saturday, March 12,  4pm:   Homily on Prayer & Fasting

Saturday, March 12,  6pm:   Vespers  (will include a brief homily)

Sunday, March 13,  11:30am:   Divine Liturgy 

Come to the mission to help prepare for Easter, which occurs April 17th this year.  If you can’t, you could view the livestreams of the services and talks.  If you choose to view the livestreams, however, please remember to still support the mission.  (E-transfers  can be sent to pastor-stjb-shrine@bellnet.ca.  Cheques are also accepted in the mail.)

About Fr. Tom Hrywna

Fr. Tom Hrywna is a priest of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Toronto and Eastern Canada. Born and raised in Toronto, Fr. Tom completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, majoring in philosophy, and subsequently completed a Bachelor of Theology and an S.T.B. in Eastern Christian Studies at St. Paul University and the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies in Ottawa, Ontario. Ordained in May 2015, Fr. Tom has served Sts. Vladimir and Olga Parish in Windsor, Ontario since July 2015. He has been a member of the Patriarchal Pastoral Council since December 2019. Fr. Tom and his wife Annette met in Ottawa during his seminary studies and her studies in canon law. They were married in May 2014 and have three beautiful daughters. Fr. Tom is an avid Toronto sports fan (Go Leafs Go), buys more books than he can read, and is a great lover of coffee.
